I had a friend hire someone to be a surrogate because she didn't want to lose her figure. I understand the pressure that women face with always looking good, but that seemed a little ridiculous.

Wow, that seems pretty
Wow, that seems pretty extreme to me, but I've done a little reading on the topic, and it appears that gestational surrogacy is becoming more and more common. Gestational surrogacy means that the woman carrying the child has no biological connection to the child. The surrogate becomes pregnant through an embryo transfer in which the egg (from the intended mother or by an egg donor) is already fertilized (by the intended father or by a sperm donor). This is becoming more common because it protects the surrogate from unnecessary emotional stress, and it legally protects the intended parents more fully. I think gestational surrogacy should be a means for women who are unable to carry a child to have one. I really don't think it should be for cosmetic reasons, but whatever. I guess it's worth it to some people. If anyone wants to read more about surrogacy, click here to read more.
