celebrity infertility

celebrity infertility is different from regular people infertility.  julia roberts having her 3rd kid at the age of, what, 44?  and that red head from desperate housewives! she's got to be 45...AT LEAST. and janet jackson says she's thinking about having a baby! she's pulling 40 for sure.  yes, PULLING.  that means >40  .  they are giving ordinary women everywhere false hope that at the ripe age of 40, you can still have a healthy pregnancy.  Maybe if you're famous and rich and have access to quality healthcare and endless fertility treatments.  Not if you're a normal person.  How am I supposed to afford expensive fertility treatments not covered by my ordinary person health insurance?

What Others are Saying

First of all, it is not good

First of all, it is not good to compare your situation to the celebrities. They are in a completely different bracket than other people and can afford any kind of treatments and doctors. You never know what kind of crazy treatments and state of the art, expensive procedures are going into their pregnancies, some of which may even be unhealthy. Who knows-their pregnancies may be natural. My aunt had her daughter at the age of 44 in a completely natural pregnancy. While this is rare, each person is unique.

There are various companies that offer fertility insurance and loans.

Good luck

While the stories of many

While the stories of many older celebrities getting pregnant are kept pretty private (understandably so), giving average people a false sense of hope about getting pregnant at a more mature age, some celebrities are quite open about their fertility problems. I found this article about Helena Bonham Carter's problems with getting pregnant. It's nice to read about a celebrity being so open with their struggles, but I hope that women don't do what she did regarding her pregnancy just because of who she is. Getting pregnant is not like buying a handbag. It's quite a bit more personal, and people should do what's right for them.

I think it's great that the

I think it's great that the media is starting to cover adoption. Assuming celebrities are good parents, why not piggyback off of their fame?

Have you noticed how many

Have you noticed how many celebrities are adopting? Adopting can also be expensive, but I personally think it's great that they are building awareness for all the children that are in need of loving parents.

Yes. It is very expensive.

Yes. It is very expensive. There are companies that are willing to let you borrow the money. For example, I know Capital One offers loans. There are also other companies that offer a fertility package that covers multiple rounds of IVF, IUI, etc. plans. That could be a good hedge since many people require multiple rounds of treatment.

its very hard when you dont

its very hard when you dont have the money for fertitily treatment...

Especially when you are a low income working person...
I would be talking to your obgyn about your options..
